Sharing Trips
Overview
Shared trips let multiple people log expenses to the same place. Friends on a group trip. Couples on vacation. A team tracking conference costs. Everyone adds their receipts, and the trip keeps a running total with a breakdown of who spent what.
Trip sharing is a premium feature and requires an active Spentrip subscription.
How to Use It
Inviting Members
- Open the trip you want to share.
- Tap the Share button.
- Spentrip generates a shareable invite link.
- Send the link to the people you want to invite (text, email, messaging app, whatever works).
- When someone opens the link and joins, they appear in the trip's member list.
Only the trip owner can generate invite links and add or remove members.
Member List
The member list shows every person in the trip. Each entry displays the member's display name, profile photo, and role (owner or member). The owner is clearly labeled.
Removing Members
The trip owner can remove any member from the trip. Tap the member's entry and confirm removal. Their previously added receipts remain in the trip.
Permissions
Trip Owner
- Edit and delete all receipts in the trip
- Invite new members and remove existing ones
- Edit trip settings (name, notes, destination, dates, budget, cover image)
- Archive the trip
- Move receipts between trips
- Access all reports and exports
Trip Member
- Add new receipts to the trip
- Edit and delete their own receipts only
- View all receipts and trip data
- See the per-member spending breakdown
- Access all reports and exports
Tips
Member Spending Breakdown
The reports tab shows how much each member spent. Use this to settle up after a trip or split shared costs without guesswork.
Everyone Sees Everything
All members can see all receipts in the trip. If you need to track expenses privately, use a personal (non-shared) trip instead.
One Owner per Trip
The person who creates the trip is the owner. Ownership cannot be transferred. If you need a different owner, create a new trip.
Premium Required
Trip sharing requires a Spentrip subscription. The trip owner needs an active subscription. Members can join shared trips on any plan.
