# Email Forwarding > Forward receipt emails to a unique address and have them automatically added as expenses. Supports attachments and text-based digital receipts. Source: https://spentrip.app/help/email-forwarding ## What Is Email Forwarding? Email forwarding lets you send receipts to Spentrip by email. You get a unique @in.spentrip.app address — forward any receipt email to it, whether it's a hotel confirmation, an online order, or a restaurant e-receipt, and Spentrip automatically creates an expense from it. Attachments like images and PDFs get scanned by the same AI that powers receipt scanning. Plain-text digital receipts get parsed directly. Each trip can have its own email address, so forwarded receipts land in the right place automatically. Premium feature ## How It Works 1 #### Generate Address Open a trip's detail page and tap Generate Email Address. 2 #### Copy It Your unique address appears on screen. Tap the copy button to grab it. 3 #### Forward Receipts Forward receipt emails from any email app to your Spentrip address. 4 #### Done Spentrip processes the email and creates an expense automatically. ## What Gets Processed The system handles two types of receipt emails: ### Email Attachments Images and PDFs attached to the email are scanned by AI — just like scanning a receipt in the app. - JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP - PDF files - Multiple attachments = multiple expenses ### Text-Based Receipts No attachments? The email body itself gets parsed. Great for digital receipts that arrive as plain text or HTML. - HTML email receipts - Plain text confirmations - AI extracts merchant, amount, date When an email has attachments, each one becomes a separate expense. When there are no supported attachments, the email body text is used instead. ## Who Can Generate an Address Only the trip owner can generate or regenerate a trip's email address. All trip members can see and copy it. ## Managing Your Address - **Copy to clipboard** — tap the copy icon next to your address to grab it quickly - **Regenerate** — creates a new address and immediately invalidates the old one. Useful if your address gets unwanted mail ## Tips & Details ### Works With Any Email App Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Yahoo — anything that can forward an email works. You can also set up auto-forwarding rules in your email provider to send receipts automatically. ### Rate Limit You can forward up to 20 receipt emails per hour. This limit is per user, not per trip address. ### Attachment Size Individual attachments can be up to 20 MB. Unsupported file types (like .zip or .doc) are silently skipped — only images and PDFs are processed. ### Address Security Your email address is unique and randomly generated. If it ever gets compromised or starts receiving spam, regenerate it — the old one stops working immediately. ### No Confirmation Emails You won't receive a reply or confirmation when forwarding receipts.
